Salone Internazionale del Mobile Cloud´s philosophy
fabbrica del vapore
Show Biz presents an exhibit by Stefan Wieland, a German artist (Marbug, 1970) who transforms the matter of contemporary art into objects of design, using recycled materials in the installations and sets he creates.
Interior Design Week 2010 is the occasion to introduce on the Italian scene lamps the artist made out of Plexiglas, adhesive tape, paper, glass and metal. These are unique pieces that have something in common: the diversity of the materials with which they are made and the freedom with which these materials are used to create organic or geometric volumes that seem transient.
A space within the Fabbrica del Vapore has been transformed into an ironic and surreal living-room, ruled by a multitude of lamps, a seductive cloud of colored shapes and lights, in which a play of objects and materials shines like a chandelier over the seat and television of an otherwise empty scene. The seat has been created by the Controprogetto laboratory – an association devoted to the experimentation and requalification of apparently useless materials and resources, in Milan since 2003. The association has been chosen because it shares Stefan Wieland’s approach, creating contemporary furnishings and temporary installations by regenerating discarded matter.
